The group offers expert nature talks and walks and community led projects.

Upcoming Events
Annual General Meeting (AGM): As part of our remit as a charitable organisation, we hold regular meetings to agree some structural processes of our group. We look at responsibilities, funding, communication etc. A chance to help shape the group, and push for priorities for the next year.
The next AGM will be in 2026. Click here to email us for more info.
regular Events
Summer Bat Ramble – Jessie Smallman, an ecologist and licensed bat handler led a small TDNG group on a bat spotting ramble in our area. We hope to do these regularly in mid-summer.
Expert talks – Catherine Gale, from Hampshire Swifts, told us about the unique life of the Swift, spending all it’s time on the wing, only landing to lay eggs and raise young. We hope to do more expert talks on other topics and will advertise them through our newsletter.
Talk about Fungi – Eric Janke led a Teg Down Nature Group in discovering the richness of fungi in our area. We hope to run these regularly late each year.
Annual Community Meet Ups – similar to the one hosted in Dean Lane Park in June 2024
OnGOING Projects
We also support longer term projects, with a group of people meeting several times to help change something.
Wildlife verges. With support from Winchester City Council, Teg Down Nature Group has identified several potential verges that we hope to use as rewilding test sites. We are connecting with the neighbours living there, and hope to measure the change in biodiversity that comes when the verges aren’t mowed by the council.
